The Oasi della Restara in Este (Padua), once the site of an ancient canal (Restara), embellished by plants added in the 1990s, has been reclaimed and, over time, has become a bonafide nature reserve on the edge of the urban centre.
The work, carried out by GAL Bassa Padovana, restructured the entire area and created a 7km circuit with a side deviation to Pra' d'Este at the halfway point. An iron bridge crosses the Restara canal to link two earlier cycle paths. The route has been furnished with benches, signboards and bins and the waterway is protected by wooden fencing.
Today the Oasi della Restara is a green space that can be used in many ways and also a cycle link between the historical centre, the hamlet and other cycle itineraries such as the Anello dei Colli Euganei and Giro delle Città Murate.
