The landscape around the mouth of the Tagliamento river, near Bibione (San Michele al Tagliamento, Venezia), features dunes, pines, a beach and an old lighthouse. The place, accessible from an unpaved road that crosses through vegetation or directly from the beach, is a treasure trove of biodiversity.
There are many tree species typical of mountain landscapes, including the black pine, oak, winter heath and German greenwood, brought down the river by the water currents. Alongside grow golden lily, gladiolus, gentian, primrose and lake plants like the parnassus. The orchids are particularly notable, present in various species: the green-winged orchid, mottled orchid, common twayblade, helleborine and red cephalantera, violet limodore. It is also easy to spot hedgehogs, small rodents and birds like herons, grey herons and the famous black-winged stilt.
