Located on top of the Vomero hill, the Certosa di San Martino stands right next to Castel Sant'Elmo. Built in the 14th century on wish of Carlo II d’Angiò, San Martin’s Charterhouse is one of the main monumental complexes in Naples and one of the finest examples of Baroque architecture and art. Cosimo Fanzago was responsible for the decorative compositions that we can admire in various rooms of the monastery.
Worthy of note is the main Cloister, decorated with skull sculptures, including the famous "teschio laureato". From the wonderful panoramic terraces it is possible to enjoy one of the most spectacular views of the city.
