The film is a tribute to some of the most beautiful locations in Campania. Fulvio has a beautiful panoramic office at the Centro Direzionale in Naples, and fires the weak links in his company without scruples. But he soon falls prey to the same fate and his life changes dramatically. After attacking his boss, Fulvio is entrusted to his parish priest brother, who lives in and manages a children’s home in the imaginary town of Rocca di Sotto, a town where time seems to stand still, with shots of the piazzas and streets of Sant’Agata de' Goti (BN) lending it its appearance. One of the main locations in the town, the cornerstone of daily life there, is Piazza Umberto I, the appearance of which was modified slightly for staging reasons. Other scenes were shot outside the ancient walls, for example on the bridge of Santa Lucia, where the petrol pump that then blows up during the patron saint’s festival was set up.
The church of San Tommaso, which Germano is the parish priest of, is actually the church of Minuta a Scala (SA) on the Amalfi coast. Other coastal towns that were used for filming include Amalfi, Atrani, Ravello, and Conca dei Marini, which is home to the Saracenic tower that Fulvio observes and mentions upon returning from his trip to the sea, and Furore, the main feature of which that we see is the splendid fjord when Fulvio returns from his trip, when the cardinals appointed by the Vatican arrive and when the statue of San Tommaso is moved following a failed attempt at theft.
