The locations of the game are immersed in a dark and desolate Rome, at times vaguely metaphysical: although most of the virtual spaces are fictional interiors, the story and the outside views place the sets in precise Roman neighbourhoods. In contextualising the various settings, the map of the city appears to highlight the movements of the protagonists from one place to another. The operational bases of the game are: Lele’s house in the African Quarter, also known as Trieste (between Viale Somalia, Viale Libia, Viale Eritrea, Viale Etiopia); Aureliano’s gym in Ostia, and Spadino’s club in the Tuscolana area. One of the brothels (the fictional Fascinus) is set in Tor Bella Monaca as is the Mercato Nero: the backgrounds of both feature residential subsidized housing with gloomy dark roofs clustered with TV aerials. The second chapter is set in a bar near the Termini station, while the Pitbull shooting range is in the Esquiline area. The fictional funfair on the fifth level is in the Magliana neighbourhood, while the streets on the sixth are found in the area of the Ancient Rome (nowadays known as Rione Monti) that gives the series its name, on the slopes of the Quirinale and Viminale hills: in the background, one of the chapels of the Church of St Mary Major. The home of the Monsignore, starting point for all the subsequent events, is on via della Conciliazione, in the Vatican City, surrounded by colonnades and cupolas. The characters meet in the area of Castel Romano.

Inspired by the series distributed by Netflix, in turn a prequel of the 2015 film, Suburra: The Game is a graphic adventure that focuses on previously unknown events that take place between the seventh and eighth episodes of Season 1, featuring the main characters, Aureliano, Spadino and Lele. Having managed to take control of the territory around Ostia, the trio must handle a delicate situation: a mysterious briefcase has been stolen from an important bishop and is now in the hands of a rival clan. The player may choose which of the three characters to control over the various levels which can be won through extortion, clue gathering and violence of all kinds. During the game, the user is called upon to move in a two-dimensional space, influencing the narrative by making frequent choices that break up the dialogue sections. The graphic style of the game, both minimal and stylized, scatters the experience over sections of buildings that recall This War of Mine. At the heart of the game experience is the complex balance between personal ambition and team interests for each character: the balancing of these two driving impulses is the nexus of the choices that the player will need to make during these events.
