The human race seems to have reached rock bottom so the decision is made in Paradise to send a new messiah to earth. This is the last chance for humanity; if there is no improvement in behaviour, there will be a universal flood, this time with no ark. Aristide (Valentino Picone), an angel who thinks he knows everything but actually is ignorant of the human spirit and himself, is sent for the Annunciation and to blow the new messiah into the belly of the new Madonna. Given his approach, he inevitably makes errors of valuation and unforgiveable frivolity, including mistakenly ‘impregnating’ not the chosen women but Nicola Balistreri (Salvo Ficarra), a bigoted professor obsessed with his own prejudices and other people’s opinions.
Produced by Tramp Limited with collaboration from Medusa Film, the film was shot for 8 weeks in summer 2023 mostly in Catania. However, several scenes are set in the alleys and squares of Montalbano Elicona (Messina), a borgo built by Emperor Frederick II, where the main characters hideout to escape the fall-out of the news of a pregnant man. Some interiors were built in Rome.
How will Aristide solve this mess? Carried along by events, the pair eventually teams up, in a sort of family, in the hope of getting out of trouble without too much damage. In other words, events from another world… and also this one!
