Housed in the old 19th-century textiles factory Cimatoria Campolmi Leopoldo & Co, the Textile Museum occupies half of the entire building, stretching out across approximately 4000mq. At the end of the current factory, there used to be a fulling mill (a building used for the fulling of cloth). This was bought by the Church, which turned it into a working mill for the whole of the 18th century. In March 1863, the Mill of Santa Chiara was bought by three successful businessmen from Prato, who turned it into a company specialising in the finishing of textiles.
