The Museo Ferroviario Piemontese of Savigliano is an exhibition area that covers about 31,500m² and includes a polyfunctional building and an outdoor display of locomotives, situated at the confluence of the Turin-Savona and Savigliano-Saluzzo-Cuneo train lines.
The ground floor of the complex is divided into two sections: the collection of equipment, tools and accessories used for working on the train lines, and the collection of plaster models and replicas. The second floor has a conference room and the Calvano collection of equipment, uniform and artefacts and the library.
The outside space is used to display a swivel platform, example of industrial mechanics, and numerous convoys, locomotives and trains.
The museum is managed entirely by volunteers who also take care of the maintenance and restoration of the trains. Many of the trains, including the platform, are in perfect working order and there are often demonstrations on special days, making this museum the jewel in the crown for Savigliano, city of the Pendolino.
