The Dolomites have been officially recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site, with their hundreds of kilometres of walls, towers, peaks and wide valleys. The Dolomites were born out of the tropical sea that once stretched from Trento to Bolzano and have a fascinating geological profile: indeed, the rocks still bear countless traces of marine life. The Dolomites are characterised by their unique make-up of both sedimentary and igneous rocks.
