Where it was filmed 'The Italian Job'

As the title suggests, the first twenty minutes of the thrilling The Italian Job are set in Italy. The film begins in piazza San Marco in Venice where shrewd John Bridger is on the phone with his daughter Stella in America. In the same location, John meets Charlie, his second in command. Three other members of the gang are already primed for action in Campo San Barnaba where they board a boat to go to the location of the heist: an elegant Venetian palace near Rio de Ca' Foscari. The plot includes a chase through the canals of Venice, including the Grand Canal.

The heist is successful and a quick change of scene sees the whole gang gathered to split the spoils on the snowy peaks of the Dolomites, near Passo Sella which links Val di Fassa (TN) and Val Gardena (BZ). Soon after, the gang is on board a coach as it coasts the snowy shore of Fedaia Lake in the municipality of Canazei (TN). However, as they are driving along the aqueduct that crosses the lake, the coach is hijacked by Steve’s men, intent on stealing the gold.
