At the centre of mount Bondone, approx. 1,500 m a.s.l., is the high plan of Viote, surrounded by four peaks: mount Palon (2,090m) overlooking the valley of Adige and dominating the city of Trento, and the three “peaks of Bondone” as they are known: mount Cornetto or Cronicello (2,180m, the highest in the massif), Doss d’Abramo (2,140m) and Cima Verde (2,102m). Together they are a protected natural area.
The plateau is closed to the east by mount Rosta (1,832m) which looks over the valley dei Laghi. It is considered an interesting habitat for the presence of alpine peat bogs and the related botanical derivations conserved there. It is also known for the Le Viote alpine botanical garden of mount Bondone. On the southern end of the plateau are old barracks, once used by Austro-Hungarian soldiers.
