Where it was filmed 'The Girl Has Flown'

Nadia is an attractive girl who lives in grey suburbs that, although difficult and dirty, are not run down. Her story could take place in any city, large or small, Italian or foreign, but it is set in Trieste, a place buffeted by a powerful wind, a city that embraces many cultures and has a strong Balkan presence, with clean streets and an archeologically sumptuous centre nestled between old working-class neighbourhoods, where she grows up cultivating a solitude from which she will emerge unexpectedly.

Her suburbs, where she lives with her affectionate but immobile family, is the working-class neighbourhood of San Giacomo, still filled with traditional artisanal shops. Other locations included via Locchi, via Molino a Vento and Porto Nuovo, with its crowded construction sites and ferry terminus for the East.
