Directed by Felix Gary Gray, the cast of Netflix movie Lift features actors from the small and big screens such as Jean Reno, Kevin Hart and Úrsula Corberó. The heist movie is about a gang of thieves attempting to steal gold worth $500 million from a passenger on a plane 12,000m above the ground.
The film opens in Venice. The beauty of the lagoon city is a star of the entire first part when the gang executes their first heist. Piazza San Marco appears to great effect in the opening scenes, while the auction was shot in the imposing rooms of the Scuola Grande di San Rocco decorated with masterpieces by Tintoretto and Titian. Other locations featured are Riva degli Schiavoni, the Grand Canal and Ponte Rialto, the Bridge of Sighs, Palazzo Ducale and the districts of San Marco, Dorsoduro, Cannaregio and Castello.
Moving from Veneto to Friuli Venezia Giulia, the production then shot in Trieste, with Miramare Castle and its park providing the Tuscan home of villain Lars Jorgensen (Jean Reno).
In addition, a mountain scene was filmed in Cortina d'Ampezzo and in the Dolomites.
