Set in the Maritime Alps, Limone Piemonte (CN) on the French border is linked to the Liguria Riviera and Costa Azzurra by the border pass of Colle di Tenda and the Roya Valley.
Thanks to this geographical position, which brings snow while close to the sea, Limone Piemonte has been a holiday destination in both summer and winter seasons since the early 1900s. It boasts the ski slopes of Riserva Bianca (80+km across 3 resorts), built for the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics in the areas of Limone-Sole, Tre Amis and Limonetto. The historical centre features the typical characteristics of a mountain borgo, with the 14th century parish Church of St. Peter in Chains in the centre.
The Limonetto area features the mountain neighbourhood of Alpe di Pope John XXIII, whose buildings were repurposed in 1965 by don Francesco Brondello for use as a place of meeting and prayer.
