The areas of the Langhe and Roero, in the province of Cuneo, have a strong appeal for visitors, with their hills, villages and ancient borgos perched on the high plains and their excellent wine and gastronomic production. Situated between the Rivers Tanaro and Bormida, the territory of the Langhe combines hills intensely cultivated with vineyards in the valleys (Bassa Langa) and small fortified hilltop villages (Alta Langa). The Roero territory occupies the left bank of the Tanaro and takes its name from the family that governed the small ancient feud for centuries.
The landscape of the territory is strongly conditioned by the presence of the grapes that have cover the hills, offering exceptional colourways that change throughout the year. The grapes from these vineyards are used for many wines including the noble Barolo and Barbaresco, the younger Barbera and the sparkling Moscato. The vineyard territory was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site on 22 June 2014.
