Deliceto stands on a hilltop in the northern part of the region, symbolized by the dominating presence of the Norman Swabian Castle.
In the village, the main thoroughfare, alleyways and courtyards hold buildings such as the ancient Church of Purgatory, the Palazzo d’Ambrosio, Palazzo De Maio, and the Abbey of St. Nicholas.
Outside the village, surrounded by woods and rivers, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Consolation is a demonstration of the enchantment of 15th century architecture. The Rione Pesco, made of caves dug from the façade of the rocky outcrop Elceto, is an extraordinary natural phenomenon.
The annual Feast of St. Mattia in February, when the centre is lit up with bonfires and popular songs echo throughout the night, evokes medieval times. To honour St. Mary dell’Olmitello people dress up in costume and the Day of the Black Pig in August offers the opportunity to try local delicacies.
