The city of Peschici has a splendid position on a sheer cliff overlooking the sea. It conserves the influence of its Moorish origins, dating to the time of Arabic incursions and domination, with caves carved into the rocks and ancient white houses with domed roofs.
The historical centre offers many picturesque corners, with its artisan workshops and numerous places offering cuisine typical to Apulia.
A unique atmosphere pervades the narrow alleyways carved into the rock and the tiny, winding stairs that characterise the city, with the scent of maritime pine mingling with sea air, rosemary and the caper plants that grow wild here.
One of the most beautiful beaches in the surroundings is the Bay of Manacora, at the very tip of the Gargano coast, whose splendid stretch of powder sand is bounded by cliffs on the edge of the Gargano National Park.
The coastline from Peschici to Vieste features ancient watchtowers and the famous trabucchi, traditional fishing platforms, built on planks anchored into the rock, with ropes that lower a large net into the water (the trabocchetto).
