The Castle of Pandino is a 14th century fortress with the typical shape of a flatland castle of the time: a square base with four corner towers, an internal courtyard with porticos featuring pointed arches and an upper storey loggia. The façade has numerous windows, single on the ground floor which originally housed the servants’ quarters, double windows on the floor above reserved for the nobles. The eastern side of the lower floor was originally open and had a portico, used as a reception room for summer banquets.
The castle was covered in frescoes at the time of its construction, including the stables which are today the municipal library. The decoration was primarily geometric forms, with imitation marble inlay and some human representations and incorporated the coats of arms of the Visconti and Della Scala families. On the death of Beatrice Regina Della Scala, Bernabò Visconti married a Savoia and the Della Scala crests were painted over with the Savoy coat of arms.
The castle then passed to the Sforza family and later to other noble families and presently belongs to the Municipality.
