Duchea, a feudal settlement that developed between the 18th and 19th centuries under Duke Paternò Castello, stands several kilometres from the residential centre of Carcaci, a hamlet in the municipality of Centuripe (EN). The abundance of water in the area permitted the cultivation of rice, hemp and linen. Its layout on a cross includes rural homes, warehouses, the landowner’s residence and a small church in pumice stone.
