The Alidosi Bridge is a splendid example of Renaissance arched bridge. It crosses the Santerno river with a single arch 42m high, in the municipality of Castel Del Rio (BO). It was commissioned in 1499 by the Alidosi family to symbolise strength and wealth. Restructured many times, it was key in increasing economic trade in the Santerno valley, making Castel Del Rio a significant market area. The structure has five rooms inside which were used by guards in the past and also as a temporary prison.
