The Ducal Palace of Alessano, a small Byzantine borgo in Southern Salento the “land between two seas”, was built in the late 1400s during the reign of the feudal lords, the Counts of Balzo.
The austere Renaissance façade and the scenic staircase bear witness to the architecture of the past. Inside, six salons open onto each other, all with original functioning fireplaces. The central salone, with an ancient floor of inlaid parquet, measures 1,000m3 and has a beautiful grand piano.
The structure has a terrace that overlooks piazza Castello, the square of the borgo, and another (measuring 300m2) over a citrus grove.
