Renaissance in origin, Palazzo Pompei today houses the Civic Museum of Natural History of Verona. Built by Michele Sanmicheli between 1530 and 1540, it belonged to the Pompei family and was donated to the Comune di Verona in the 1800s.
The elegant façade is divided in two storeys: the ground floor with rustic stone ashlar work and the upper floor with Doric elements.
The Civic Museum of Natural History inside is one of the most prominent in Italy for its collections of palaeontology, prehistory, mineralogy, zoology and botany. It has a vast collection of fauna and flora from Bolca (Monti Lessini).
