Tresigallo cemetery (Ferrara), which dates to 1934, is located on the northern urban outskirts in the Municipality of Tresignana (established in 2019 with the merger of Tresigallo and Formignana) and connects to piazza della Repubblica on a rectilinear axis, representing the end point of the town’s major thoroughfare.
The cemetery is surrounded by a boundary wall with a central entrance featuring a heavy tripartite arch. This portal, with its triple opening, signals and leads to the tomb of Edmondo Rossoni, proponent of the Rationalist refoundation of Tresigallo. The structure represents the perspective threshold for "The other city" and the limit of the urban centre. The little church-mortuary, a sculpture by Enzo Nenci of an unusual angel-worker with enormous hands taking flight, above a green marble torch, is of particular note.
