The Brenta Dolomites, the only Dolomite group located west of the Adige River, extend north-south for approximately 40 km and east-west for approximately 12 km. Their natural borders include the Val di Sole (north), the Val di Non, lake Molveno and the Paganella (east), the Valli Giudicarie (south) and Val Rendena (west). The entire Brenta group is included in the territory of the Adamello Brenta Natural Park.
The Brenta group is traditionally divided into three parts. The central part, accessed from Molveno and Madonna di Campiglio, is the most popular for hiking and offers many alpine refuges. The northern and southern parts are wilder and less frequented. Many peaks exceed 3,000 meters, and the area offers many alpine refuges.
The two main lakes are lake Molveno and lake Tovel, in addition to small typically Alpine lakes.
The four main access routes to the Brenta Dolomites are from: Molveno; Valli Giudicarie (Val d'Ambiez and Val d'Algone); Val Rendena (mostly Madonna di Campiglio and Sant'Antonio di Mavignola); and Val di Non, Val di Tovel or Rifugio Peller.
