Where it was filmed 'Si vive una volta sola'

For his 27th film as director, Carlo Verdone, as the medical luminary Umberto Gastaldi, takes leave of his Rome to give himself a holiday in Apulia with his team: Anna Foglietta, Rocco Papaleo and Max Tortora. The “Roman” hospital where the four surgeons operate is actually in Bari, and several picturesque localities in the province were used as locations, including the Abbey of San Vito in the hamlet of San Vito in Polignano a Mare which is the backdrop to the furious phone call between Dr Gastaldi and his daughter who has just missed out on the opportunity to join a reality show because of a prank played by her father and his friends. The film also shot in several visitor structures in Monopoli, including Il Melograno, a fortified masseria dating to the 17th century. Heading down towards Salento, the team stops at Otranto, on the easternmost stretch of coast in Italy, while the surprising final features the emerald waters of the Zinzulusa cave on the coast between Castro and Santa Cesarea Terme.
