After many years in New York, Emma returns to Italy, landing in an airport recreated in the teatro comunale of Vicenza. From here the story unfolds around the historical centre of the city, featuring several iconic locations. The dance school was created amidst the loggias of the Basilica Palladiana, a national monument designed by Andrea Palladio. Places where the characters meet include piazza delle Erbe, followed by the nearby area of the San Michele bridge and San Paolo bridge, a set used for many outdoor scenes, including Valentina’s home and the wall with the Darkout mural in the Gazzolle area.
San Lorenzo is the setting for some of Emma’s bike rides and for the scooter accident in via Montagna. Near piazza San Lorenzo, in contrà Cordenons, is Liceo Lioy, where Emma teaches.
The hilltop area of Mount Berico features in many scenes, especially the little park facing the Sanctuary, the parkdella Vittoria and the viewpoint of piazzale della Vittoria several kilometres distant from the historical centre.
The trip to the Galileo exhibition is set in Renaissance Palazzo Chiericati, today the Civic Museum, while the dance performance takes place in the Loggia del Capitaniato. The historic Parco Querini also appears, easily recognisable by its neoclassical temple and the avenues lined by Marinali’s statues.
While fleeing, Luca finds shelter at Villa Valmarana ai Nani, an elegant residence frescoed by Giambattista and Giandomenico Tiepolo. The Teatro Olimpico of Vicenza, setting for the Festival of Dance, was the dominant location in the last episode of the series.
Several interior scenes were shot in Rome.
