Over the years the modder community has developed other maps based on Italian locations such as Palermo, the design of which is based more on Salerno than the Sicilian city, and a generic hilly area. Given the almost arcade nature of the game, the maps do not contain specific references to real locations. We can nonetheless see that the urban structure and certain features such as bridges, porticos and piazzas are faithful to the traditional look of these Italian cities, without however lingering on specific details.

A multiplayer game, says the official description, that “sees the Axis and Allied powers face off on the European battlefields of the Second World War. The players can choose to be a light infantry/assault/heavy infantry soldier, marksman or machine-gunner: each class has its own arsenal of historical weapons. The missions are based on the most important operations in history”. Among them are Operation Avalanche (or rather the landings in Salerno) and the landings in Anzio.
