The extended municipality of Pejo (Trento), which gives its name to the valley, is known for its ferruginous water springs and spas. Located in the extreme north-western corner of Trentino, it is nestled in a valley dominated by Colle San Rocco. Its territory is largely located within the Stelvio Park. Its hamlets are Cogolo, with the municipal offices, Celentino, Celledizzo, Comasine, Peio.
Pejo was chosen as the name for the union of municipalities that took place in 1928. It is the best-known historically for its spas and waters. Located at 1,584m, it is the highest settlement with a full-time community in Trentino.
The municipality’s churches are varied and decorated with artistic furnishings and some frescoes. The carved and gilded wooden altars from the Solandre workshops, dating to the 17th and 18th centuries, are notable for their singularity and size.
