The economic and cultural centre of the Cavedine valley, the municipality of Cavedine (Trento) includes the residential centre of Laguna on the valley floor, and terraced Musté. Cavedine is surrounded by a notable mountainous backdrop, comprising mount Bondone, mount Casale, mount Gazza-Paganella and the more distant Brenta Dolomites group.
The key place in town is piazza Italia, an authentic example of a typical village square in the valley. Rustic-elegant residences and workers’ houses are distributed around it, with specific characteristics such as tiled roofs, ramps to access husbandry areas, loggias, windows and portals with 18th-century friezes and external stone stairs.
Cavedine is also a well-known archaeological site with a significant Roman road in the area. Lake Cavedine is located in the wide glacial valley of the Sarca river, and houses a variety of species of fish.
