The small municipality of Dorsino (Trento), located on a morainic terrace created over the millennia by the waters of the Sarca river, counts around 400 inhabitants across the three hamlets of Dorsino, Tavodo and Andogno.
The ancient farmers' houses of the area typically feature an entrance arch, upper floors in stone and wood with balconies and storage rooms. Another typical feature of these buildings is the pont de l'era, an access way leading to the upper floors which were customarily used for animal husbandry. Walking through the village it is possible to pass under many of these ‘bridges’, which bear the names of the families who own the houses.
The oldest building in the town is the 13th century, single-naved Church of St. George, built in simple hewn stone. The vaults inside the church are embellished with frescoes by Cristoforo Baschenis, depicting scenes from the life of St. Martin and St. George.
