Camigliatello Silano, in the municipality of Spezzano della Sila (province of Cosenza), is a well-known tourist destination in the mountains of Calabria. Located at 1,300 metres above sea level, it has a modern ski lift and two pistes. The downhill runs begin at around 1,400 m and lifts reach the tip of mount Curcio (1,768 m). Cross-country skiing paths spread out over the plains dotted with Sila conifer forests.
In the residential centre of the village, which is situated inside the Sila National Park, is Camigliatello station and the Sila mini train which crosses part of the park. Calabria’s largest lake, lake Cecita is not far away.
Near the lake is the nature reserve of Ariamacinasi, known for its birdwatching and some ancient woods. These include the little wood of Fallistro in the biogenetic reserve which has several black pines (known as the Sila giants) that are centuries old.
