The borgo of Cleto (province of Cosenza), located in the Savuto valley at approximately 250m above sea level, was built by the Normans on the slopes of mount Sant'Angelo, below the Norman castle on the tip which surveys the Tyrrhenian coastline over to the Aeolian islands.
Four gates – porta Pirillo (south), porta Forgia (west), porta Cafarone (east), porta Timpone (north west) – provide access to the historical centre which features: the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, with a pitched roof and three naves; the ruined, picturesque Church of the Holy Rosary; the 17th century Church of the Holy Consolation with polychrome ceramics, 19th century frescoes by Raffaele Aloisio di Aiello and a floor mosaic depicting the "Fiore della Vita".
The Pantano area features the Cece fountain, and is of notable archaeological interest following the discovery of a 14th century B.C.E. rock tomb (tomba a grotticella) and two bronze axes from the late Bronze Age.
The area of Cleto is well-known for its oil and Savuto, a fine Calabrian wine.
