Mondello is a beachfront location 11 km from Palermo, transformed from fishing village into a summer resort at the end of the 1800s. It extends between mount Pellegrino and mount Gallo along a small bay with powder sand and a turquoise sea. There are multiple restaurant options including the Charleston, formerly a beach club built on stilts over the sea in 1910 in late art déco style.
Spread out at the foot of mount Pellegrino, the historical centre of Mondello is characterised by elegant art déco villas from the early 1900s. In the square, the Tonnara tower and the remains of the “mafraggio”, area where the fishing equipment was formerly kept, bear witness to the village’s past.
The parco della Favorita separates the hamlet of Mondello from the centre of Palermo.
