Fort Serrada, on Dosso del Sommo in the high plain of Serrada at an altitude of 1,665m, was built to act as the barrier to the valley of Terragnolo and Borcola Pass. It controlled the northern side of Mount Pasubio, Col Santo in particular, and with fort Sommo, prevented attack from Coe Pass.
It is the largest fortress on the front by extension, comprising three buildings spread over three storeys: the main block measuring 100 m by 8m; the bunker, built in cement and faced with blocks of stone worked by local masons, contained accommodation, kitchen, electric generator, machine room, storerooms and weapon rooms.
