Fort Cherle is a military fortification located at 1,445 m. above sea level in the Malga Cherle area which gives it the name. The structure was built to protect and block the Folgaria plateau and the forts of the Sperre Folgaria.
Built between 1909 and 1914, it was the largest in the area, and also the most eastern, located only 2 km from the border. It was originally equipped with four domes and numerous defence weapons. Today the roof is in ruins.
The internal passages make it possible to visit some of the rooms and corridors, which give an idea of the complexity and functionality of the triangular-plan fort. It can be reached from the Sommo pass, located between the hamlet of San Sebastiano and the municipality of Folgaria.
