Alice and Mattia are just children when they are affected by tragedies that will influence their future lives. Alice is a promising skier, training at the ski complex of Sestriere (TO) when she has a terrible accident. Mattia has an autistic twin, a situation that forces him to be more responsible than a child should be, and, aged 8, he leaves her in the Parco del Valentino in Turin so he can enjoy a birthday party on his own. He searches for her fruitlessly after the party, from the borgo medievale in the park to the banks of the river Po. The school where the two adolescents meet is the Liceo Classico Vittorio Alfieri in Turin. As adults they attend the wedding of Alice’s classmate at Castle dei Conti di Biandrate, San Giorgio Canavese (TO).

Based on the novel by Paolo Giordano. Alice and Mattia are both “prime numbers”, persecuted by tragedy that marred their childhood. As adolescents meeting in the school corridor, they recognise each other’s pain and suffering, and become friends.
