Where it was filmed 'Vincere'

Ida Dalser and Benito Mussolini first meet in Trento, although the location used is actually the Borgo Medievale (the so-called Medieval Borgo, actually a building from 1884) in Turin’s Parco del Valentino. The capital of the Piedmont region also provided other locations for the tragic tale of Ida Dalser and her unrequited love for Mussolini, including the San Federico Gallery, where passers-by run for cover when a bomb explodes, the former Istituto di Riposo “Poveri Vecchi” in Borgo Po, and Via Palazzo di Città.

In the wider provincial area, shooting took place in the centre of Carignano, reminiscent of a residential area in the early 1900s: in particular, Piazza San Giovanni, for Dalser’s house and the Villa Bona park in Via Monte di Pietà. Other locations include the former mental asylum in Collegno (TO) and Savigliano (CN).

Adelina Dalser’s home in Sopramonte di Trento, where her sister Ida is sent with her son is actually in Lasino (TN) and Ida tries to approach Pietro Fedele, on the hill of Doss Trento, location of Cesare Battisti’s Mausoleum, before she is taken away to the mental asylum.

The mental asylum of San Clemente was recreated in Parco La Mandria (TO), with special effects transforming the lake into the Venice Lagoon.

The film also uses repertory footage from the Istituto Luce Archivio Fotocinematografico.
