The director, Max Croci, chose to set Dora’s story in Turin, city of the blogger Enrica Tesio whose book is the basis for the film. Dora lives in an art deco building and works at the Museum of Cinema in the Mole Antonelliana. Her dear friend, Sara, is always full of enthusiastic suggestions for new activities, such as belly dancing lessons on Lungo Po with Castello del Valentino in the background. We see a busy Dora with the children in the centre of the capital city of Piedmont, in Piazza Vittorio Veneto and beneath the porticoes of via Po. The city’s river and its Murazzi is always present. We often see Dora at Parco del Valentino. Little Pietro adores trains, even stowing aboard a convoy headed for Milan: the stations of Porta Susa and Porta Nuova are clearly recognisable.
The last act of the film is set in the northern part of Fregene, near the so-called Fishermen’s Village in via Silvi Marina. The building in the background of the last part of the film is Casa Moravia, a small villa built on the mouth of the Arrone River.
