Torre Paola (San Felice Circeo – LT) is a defensive coastal tower on the Promontory of Circeo that borders with Sabaudia beach. It was built in the 1500s to guard against the continual raids by Saracen pirates, becoming part of a defence system of six towers which communicated with each other using smoke signals and mirrors. Modified to deter raids from the hillside, the original building was given the unusual turtle-like defensive structure on its summit. The tower is abandoned today.
