Glacial in origin, the two Revine lakes are located in the municipalities of Revine Lago and Tarzo (Treviso) in the Laghi della Vallata Park. They are surrounded by the borgos of Santa Maria, Colmaggiore, Lago and Fratta.
To the west is the larger of the lakes, lago di Lago or St. George’s lake, fed by the Piaveson brook; to the east, the smaller lake of Santa Maria receives less water. A swamp of several hundred metres separates the two lakes which are connected by the canale delle Barche. The surrounding area is a typical lake landscape with reedbeds and water lilies in the summer. There are a number of picnic areas.
The area of the lakes of Revine was first settled in the late Neolithic, remains from this era can be seen in the Didactic Archaeological Park of Lievelet. Furthermore, the water here has been awarded the Bandiera Blu for its cleanliness, it is an excellent natural exercise centre offering opportunities for bike rides and walks and every year plays host to the Prealpi Triathlon Fest.
