Coldai lake is a small glacial jewel set in a large plateau enclosed between the Civetta and Coldai mountains, and a popular destination for hikers, from Italy and abroad, visiting the Dolomites.
The lake, located at an altitude of 2,143 m a.s.l., can be reached via an easy (suitable for children) walk of about 90 minutes, from Piani di Pezzè or Col dei Baldi – both accessible by cable car from Alleghe – or from Palafavera in Val di Zoldo.
The Sonino al Coldai refuge, a few meters from the lake, offers 88 beds plus another 8 in the winter area.
