Campitello di Fassa is located at the mouth of the Duron Valley (Trento), approximately 1,450 meters a.s.l. It is surrounded by the Sassolungo Dolomite chain and the massifs of Sas Pordoi and Col Pelous.
The town is a departure point for Col Rodella, "the balcony of the Dolomites": this natural terrace offers a splendid panoramic view of the valley and is often used as a departure point by paragliders and hang-gliders.
Points of historical interest range alongside the modern accommodation facilities which make the town an important tourist centre: the hamlet of Pian comprises a picturesque Ladin settlement of ancient barns typical of the area, today subject to environmental and urban protection.
The parish Church of Saints Philip and James, built in Gothic style in 1525, has a gigantic fresco dedicated to Saint Christopher on the south façade of the building.
