Description

Piazza Castello is Turin’s main square, the heart of the historical centre of the city where four main thoroughfares flow together: the pedestrian via Garibaldi, via Po, via Roma and via Micca. The perimeter features elegant porticoes built in different eras and was famous in the past for hosting important fairs and exhibitions.

Some of the most beautiful and important buildings of Turin can be found in Piazza Castello, including the Royal Palace complex with its gardens, the Royal Armoury, the Church of St. Lawrence, the Teatro Regio and the splendid Palazzo Madama, whose medieval Porta Decumana is the first glimpse of Piazza Castello when approaching from Via Roma.
