Tarsia (province of Cosenza) is located in the low valley of the river Crati, between Serre di Spezzano and the outcroppings of the Sila plateau. The alleyways of its little residential centre extend along a rock spur and feature several places of worship including the 16th century Church of St. Peter and St. Paul and the Church of Santa Maria del Seggio, built in the 16th century.
The nature reserve of Tarsia is very interesting, it includes a manmade lake and 114m long dam which can hold 20 million cubic metres of water.
The Ferramonti internment camp, located in Tarsia, was the largest Fascist concentration camp in Italy and was liberated by the British on 14 September 1943.
