Villa Nobel stands on corso Cavallotti in Sanremo (IM) and can also be accessed by the pedestrian and cycle path that follows the coastline. The elegant building, with French roof and a garden of prestigious plants that once extended to the sea, was bought by the famous Swedish industrialist, chemist and philanthropist Alfred Nobel in 1891, and became his last residence.
Nobel’s laboratory can be found in the basement of the four-storey villa, a conference room with Pompeian style frescoes on the ground floor and the scientist’s study, library with original furnishings and a second conference room on the first floor. The second floor houses Nobel’s bedroom with its original 19th century furnishings.
The villa is surrounded by a garden of 6,000 m2 which conserves prestigious plants, like the extremely tall cupressus macrocarpa of Californian origin, which towers over a Bofors cannon from 1883.
The park and villa are used today for private and institutional ceremonies and events.
