Villa del Principe, also Palazzo di Andrea Doria, is a sumptuous noble residence in Genoa which today houses a museum. It was built in the 1500s as the private residence of the Genovese Admiral Prince Andrea Doria.
The north facing façade which overlooks via San Benedetto is fairly uniform with a portal by Perin del Vaga and Silvio Cosini bearing the Doria crest. The South facing façade overlooking the sea is quite different, with an array of loggias, colonnades and terraces. The loggia degli Eroi has an extensive fresco cycle and plasterwork on mythological themes by Perin del Vaga.
The interiors, recently restored, conserve frescoes, tapestries and wooden furnishings. The salon with the fresco of Jupiter striking the Giants and tapestries of the Battle of Lepanto is particularly significant. The artwork on display includes paintings by Sebastiano del Piombo, Domenico Piola and Bronzino. The furniture dates to the 1600 and 1700s.
The large Italian garden that surrounds the building features the Triton fountain and fountain of Neptune.
