Large piazza San Zeno, one of Verona’s historic squares, is dominated by the complex of the Basilica di San Zeno, its imposing bell tower and massive tower with Ghibelline crenelations. The Church of St. Procolo, 4th bishop of Verona, stands adjacent.
The piazza is enclosed to the east by the Romanesque facade of the Cathedral, the bell tower and the surviving tower of the Abbey perimeter wall. The rest of square is lined with simple low buildings.
