Piazza dei Signori in Verona is lined by monumental buildings interconnected by arches creating the impression of a courtyard.
In the centre of the square is a monument to Dante (1865) in white Carrara marble. Walking through the Costa arch, the square is lined with buildings: (clockwise) Palazzo del Comune or della Ragione with the Lamberti Tower, the Captain’s Palace (also known as Palazzo del Tribunale), Palazzo del Governo (formerly the residence of the Scaliger ruling family) and the loggia del Consiglio. The 17th century façade of Domus Nova (also known as Casa dei Giudici) closes the square on the eastern side.
