Villa Cordellina Lombardi, the seat of the Province of Vicenza, is located in Montecchio Maggiore. It was built between 1735 and 1760 to a project by the Venetian architect Giorgio Massari who was inspired by Palladio, in particular in the use of a tetrastyle Ionian portico with a pediment bearing the Cordellina family crest.
The complex comprises the central noble residence, flanked by two barchesse that house stables and dormitories, little guard towers and a farm house. The main salon of the villa is decorated with frescoes by Giambattista Tiepolo, displaying the heroic deeds of Scipio Africanus and Alexander the Great. The wide outdoor space in the front of the building has a formal garden court filled with statues, while the rear features a courtyard and another garden with a fountain.
