Surrounded by woods of chestnut trees over a century old, Roccagiovine (RM) rises on a rocky spur dominating the Valley of River Licenza and is one of the principal entrances to the Regional Park of Monti Lucretili. Inside the walls are the Castle dei del Gallo, the Church of the Flagellants with 18th century frescoes and the Church of Santa Maria delle Case. The main square of the town, dedicated to the goddess Vacuna, has a 19th century fountain with four spouts shaped as dog heads.
Not far outside town are the ruins of Horace’s Villa and the 15th century Ninfeo degli Orsini where water gushes into a semi-circular basin from a 3m high architectural feature with side columns and a gabled façade.
